Jim Lisk, self taught cartoonist/artist who was raised on a dairy ranch in eastern Washington state. Broke into the professional freelance market selling gag cartoons to SRI Publishing company of Fort Worth, Texas from 1968 to 1972.
When CB'n (Citizen Band Radio Operators) became popular in 1974 Jim created over 600 "QSL" cards (Quick Sent Letter) until 1977. A "QSL" Card is the size of a post card. They were numbered and were collected by CB'ers at CB breaks.
In 1976 he was invited to the White House because he drew Betty Ford, who liked talking to truckers on her CB radio, a CB card. Jim Has a set of presidential pens to prove it along with a photo of him in the rose garden. In 1980 he was hired as a staff cartoonist by Cascade Mountain Tee Company of Seattle, Washington to design novelty tee shirts.
In 1983 he went back to the freelance market which was much less stressful. Freelance and participating in Western Art Shows led him to "CCI" in 2006 and became a member. In 2007 Jim collaborated with Stephen McFadden (editor/owner of the Ritzville Journal) and the "Ritzville Downtown Development Association" (RDDA) hosted the first "Ritzville Historic Days Western Art Show" which takes place every Memorial Day weekend.
