Daryl Reed has been drawing since he was old enough to hold a pencil.Growing up in the mountains of Idaho, the son of an outfitter and government trapper, Reed is no stranger to the cowboy way of life. He shared his youth with sheepherders, loggers, miners, cowboys and a rich assortment of old timers that supplied an endless source of subject material. MWhether he was gathering cattle or pulling a pack string, the young artist spent his youth working outdoors. In the spring of 2000, Reed decided it was time to do something more with his artwork. Fashioning his own unique style of cartooning, Reed's characters began to take on a life of their own. The livestock industry, the people he grew up around in the back country and the old timer's stories added a truth to his humor that was met with immediate appreciation, from both his audience and his artist peers. The hands-on experience reflected in Reed's work is obvious.
Over the next few years, Reed took his work to art shows and exhibits every chance he could. His determination paid off as more and more people became familiar with the cartoonist's humor. He currently serves as President of the Cowboy Cartoonists.
